I am an aspiring journalist with a keen interest in social justice, local history, culture and the arts. I am especially passionate about feature writing and long-form journalism, but I have experience in breaking news, investigations and reviews. As a History undergraduate at the University of Cambridge, I wrote extensively for my student paper, Varsity, and have continued to write while studying for an MA in Journalism at the University of Sheffield.
My enthusiasm stems from wanting to platform voices that are not typically represented. As a state-school educated woman from the North, I understand how important it is for journalists to include a variety of perspectives, especially from those affected most by the issue. Journalism should be about getting to the root of the matter at hand and communicating effectively with the public, rather than encouraging division and feeding peoples’ biases.
Outside of journalism, I am a keen artist and graphic designer, having volunteered to take on illustration and graphic design roles for university societies and student papers.
I am open to a wide range of work experience and internship opportunities across the UK.
